CD Cover

This is my final CD cover, I had considered for this staying as close to the visuals in the video as possible. The original photograph was in taken in an alleyway reminiscient of those which features quite prominently in the video. However after taking inspiration from other Trance music genre CD covers, I decided to use the image editing programme photoshop to enhance the colours and to give it a distinct neon colour scheme more fitting with the gaudy nature of trance music.

CD Sleeve

This is the final fold out cd sleeve I produced to accompany the video. Each side maintains an image of the character from the video, I was keen to maintain this visual link and 2 of the sides are stills from the video itself.

The final design for my poster/advertisement

My main focus for this was to have this presented in the style of a double page spread magazine advert. I wanted to maintain a strong link visually and again used the same character as appears in my video and on the CD cover and in a position and location reminiscent of the video. Unlike the video I have used the program photoshop to bring in a more incandescent colourscheme more in keeping with the traditional trance look.

Evaluation P3

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation

stages?

The first and foremost piece of technology I used throughout the project was an apple Mac on which I performed near enough every task related to research, planning and post production as well as the construction of the ancillary tasks and my evaluation.

Another vital piece was the website “Blogger” which hosted my very own blog and subsequently any text documents, photographs and videos which I uploaded to it. This includes everything from the first piece of research through to the evaluation stages.

For the research aspect of my project the most useful of all the technologies available to me was most definitely the internet. In particular the search engine “Google” was an invaluable tool. Using Google I was able to find examples of trance artists, songs, existing music videos, advertisements and CD covers.

To gather audience research I used the website “Poll junkie” to create my own online questionnaire to obtain the thoughts and opinions of people on what defined and made a quintessential trance music video. In turn I advertised my poll on the social networking website “Facebook” to encourage acquaintances of mine to share their opinions.

For the construction element I used a Sony DV camera for all filming work as well as a Canon SLR camera for photographing the shots to be used in my album cover and poster. As well as a digital scanner to scan in copies of my storyboard for construction as a digital storyboard.

For post production I used the editing software adobe premier pro to edit both my final music video and my digital storyboard. I also used the program Photoshop to edit and produce my album cover and poster.

Finally I used the video sharing website Youtube to host my music video.

Storyboard animatic

Feedback on animatic
One issue with my storyboard is the length of the shots when in reality to match the beat and pace of the song I will need to film each individual process from several different angles and distances. In order to keep the beat of the song with the video editing, a key element of trance music videos as exemplified by Goodwins theory's Similarly the majority of shots in the animatic are shown as being from the same distance when in practice I will be using a much wider range of shot distances, heights and angles.
